Janet Davis, Piano Instructor

Tuition

Lessons are held year around.  Four lessons during the summer are required to guarantee your place on the studio roster in the fall.  Semester and yearly packages with discounts are available.

A $50.00 registration fee holds your spot on the roster and covers your first set of materials, lesson binder, and administrative fees to set up your account.

Tuition includes recitals, but does not include registration fees for the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Festival fees or other performance/competition opportunities.

Discounted payment plans: If payment is not received by the due date, no discount will be given and lessons may be suspended until payment is made. if returning after a suspension, lessons fees will be those in effect at the time of return.

Tuition pays to reserve a specific lesson time whether you choose to attend or not and that time cannot be resold. Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance.  Missed lessons are non-refundable.  Makeup lessons are offered based on availability but not guaranteed.  Several absences are already calculated into the tuition schedule.

Cancellations and Makeups

Please give at least 48 hours notice of cancellation  when cancellation of a lesson is necessary.  I understand that is not always possible with illness or emergencies, but many last minute cancellations are for reasons other than illness or emergencies that could have been cancelled much earlier.

Cancellations should be made a least 48 hours in advance to receive a makeup lesson. Makeup lessons are available at times that other students have cancelled.  Please schedule makeup lessons through the online calendar.  No shows and late cancellations are not eligible for makeup lessons or refunds.

Students who do not come to lessons and have not cancelled will be contacted after the first two no shows, but three no shows with no cancellations or contact will result in dismissal from the studio.

Notification of Cancellations/Scheduling Makeups

Notification of cancellations and scheduling of makeups should be made on the calendar at janetdavis.mymusicstaff.com. You will be sent login information by email. Your username is your email address on record. Any notification of cancellation not made on the calendar should be made in writing by text or email.

Practice

Most progress is made during practice at home. Students should play most days.

Performance Opportunities

Recitals, the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs' Festival, performance classes, and other opportunities will be offered throughout the year.

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified in the afternoon before lessons if lessons will be cancelled.  Even if school is cancelled for snow, the roads are clear by lesson time most of the time. If roads are not clear, lessons online with rockoutloud.live are offered. Do not cancel based on a forecast because forecasts often change.

Discontinuation of Lessons

Please give at least 30 days notice of discontinuation of lessons. Students are responsible for their last month's tuition whether they attend lessons or not. All unused makeup lessons will be forfeited at the time of discontinuation of lessons. No refunds will be given for unused lessons.  When returning to lessons after a break, lesson fees will be those in effect at the time of return.

Scheduled Breaks

No lessons are scheduled on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, part of Thanksgiving Week, two weeks around Christmas and New Year's, and two weeks of vacation for me. These days are on the online calendar.

No Spring Break is scheduled because I have students in several school districts and private schools and their breaks are at different times.  If you will not attend lessons during your Spring Break, let me know the day or days that you will be absent at least 48 hours in advance.

Summer Vacation

The studio operates year around and does not close for summer. I am happy to offer makeup lessons, but please cancel and reschedule in advance. If you choose to take off for the summer, your lesson time or a place in the studio cannot be guaranteed without paying a deposit to reserve your time in September.

Studio Rules

Students should arrive on time with all their lesson materials.

Students should use the restroom and wash their hands before their lesson.

Please wait in the waiting area until you are called to your lesson.

Home Studio:

Please knock and enter the front door so I do not have to interrupt the previous student's lesson to let you in.

Please do not park in the bend of the driveway in front of the house because other cars cannot get in or out.

The waiting room in my home studio is the dining room. Please do not stand at the studio door and watch. This makes many students nervous.

Areas other than the dining room, restroom, and studio are off limits.

Please wait for parents inside or on the front porch.

Dismissal from Studio

Students may be dismissed from the studio for:

  • lack of payment or habitual late payment
  • lack of progress due to lack of practice
  • too many cancellations and reschedules
  • three no shows
  • uncooperative attitude or behavioral issues
