POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Tuition is due by the first of the month. Payment packages are available. A $15.00 late fee will be added to your account 7 days after the due date. Payment may be made with cash, check, debit/credit card, or PayPal.
Cancellations and Makeups
Cancellations should be made a least 24 hours in advance to receive a makeup lesson, preferably 48 hours or more whenever possible. I understand that this is not always possible due to illness and emergencies, however, most lessons cancelled are because of vacation or other activities. Makeup times are limited because my schedule is usually full or close to full so make every attempt to attend your lesson at your regularly scheduled time. Makeup lessons are available at times that other students are absent. No shows and late cancellations are not eligible for makeup lessons or refunds.
Notification of Cancellations/Scheduling Makeups
Notification of cancellations and scheduling of makeups should be made on the calendar at janetdavis.mymusicstaff.com. You will be sent login information by email. Please be certain to change your password to something that you can remember because I do not have access to passwords. Your username is your email address. Any notification of cancellation not made on the calendar should be made in writing.
Most progress is made during practice at home. However, do not cancel a lesson because of lack of practice. There is always something new to be learned!
Recitals, the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs' Festival, performance classes, Ohio Music Teachers Association recitals, ribbon festival, and scale olympics, and other opportunities will be offered throughout the year.
In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified in the afternoon before lessons if lessons will be cancelled. Even if school is cancelled for snow, the roads are clear by lesson time most of the time. If roads are not clear, lessons by Skype are offered. Do not cancel based on a forecast because forecasts often change.
Discontinuation of Lessons
Please give at least 30 days notice of discontinuation of lessons. Students are responsible for their last month's tuition whether or not they attend lessons.
No lessons are scheduled on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, part of Thanksgiving Week, two weeks around Christmas and New Year's, one or two weeks around the end of the school year, and one or two weeks around the end of summer/beginning of school. These dates are on the online calendar.
The studio operates year round and does not close for summer. I am happy to offer makeup lessons, but please cancel and reschedule in advance. If you choose to take off for the summer, your lesson time or a place in the studio cannot be guaranteed without payment based on the payment plan you choose. If you are not taking lessons over the summer, please inform me by April 1.
Students should arrive on time with all of their lesson materials.
Students should use the restroom and wash their hands before their lesson.
Please wait in the waiting area until you are called back to your lesson.
Home Studio: Please knock and enter the front door so I do not have to interrupt the previous
student's lesson to let you in.
Please do not park in the bend of the driveway in front of the house because
other cars cannot get in or out.
Areas other than the dining room, restroom, and studio are off limits.
Please wait inside or on the front porch for parents.
Dismissal from Studio
Students may be dismissed from the studio for:
- lack of payment or habitual late payment
- lack of progress due to lack of practice
- too many cancellations and reschedules
- three no shows
- uncooperative attitude or behavioral issues
